I invoke that rule DAILY in my business… every time I post a stupid reel, every time I ask for payment, every time I tell someone I just met about my job.

It gets easier little by little, but the fear of judgement and scrutiny really never goes away. So just do it, because in the grand scheme of things—no one will remember how silly you felt 20 years from now except for you.

1. Find interesting light by your windows—a few shadows cast along the ground from panes or blinds are perfect!

2. Grab a blanket or duvet to use as a backdrop, and collect objects that are similar colors — books, hats, ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, etc.

3. Lay the objects so that shadows fall down to the lower corner—this means placing the window in the top right or left corner of the object.

4. Cut off the sides of the objects at the edge of the frame and shoot straight down — this will draw your eye in towards the middle

5. Set your phone to portrait mode, increase exposure, and drop aperture (f) to 2.0… snap away!

I keep forgetting to make this post…

But thank you for your votes!!! In October, I was voted into the top three for the Best of the Best Photography Businesses in the Morongo Basin by the Hi Desert Star.

My doors had been open less than a month at that point and it truly meant the world to me as I navigated the unknowns of owning a storefront, having my husband deployed, and building a business in my new community.

My ✨unpopular opinion✨ is…

AI will only help the photo industry grow.

Scary AI baby is proof that you have to know how to use it to your advantage. AI is not easy to prompt properly, you have to learn how to tastefully and properly utilize it. Not to mention, you need to learn how to blend AI generations to look natural.

How is that any different than other technology that has advanced our trade? Mirrorless cameras, editing software, advanced lighting… all of it requires proper education and artistic use to create unique art.

Photographs capture reality—an AI generation will never replace the memories created during a photo session. So no, I’m not worried AI will take my job—just that it will make my job a little more fun and a little bit easier🤷‍♀️

AI will only help the photo industry grow.

Scary AI baby is proof that you have to know how to use it to your advantage. AI is not easy to prompt properly, you have to learn how to tastefully and properly utilize it. Not to mention, you need to learn how to blend AI generations to look natural.

How is that any different than other technology that has advanced our trade? Mirrorless cameras, editing software, advanced lighting… all of it requires proper education and artistic use to create unique art.

Photographs capture reality—an AI generation will never replace the memories created during a photo session. So no, I’m not worried AI will take my job—just that it will make my job a little more fun and a little bit easier🤷‍♀️

Wondering when to book your newborn session? It’s never too early to plan for those first precious moments.

Most newborn sessions take place between 4 and 14 days after birth. For a lot of parents this can be a scary thought!

💭 Will I be comfortable enough to sit through a 3+ hour portrait session?
💭Is baby even old enough for something like that? Is it safe?
💭What if we haven’t figured out a sleeping and feeding schedule?

Yes, yes, and that’s totally normal! At Lucky Foot Photography my goal is to make you as comfortable as possible, that’s why I offer in-home sessions and viewing appointments. A lot of dads even nap through the session🤷‍♀️

Every pose and wrap is tailored to babies within that age range and are handled with the upmost care and safety practices. Session times are flexible to work around feeding schedules with ample time to take breaks between poses.
